Presbyterian Assistance to Haiti
Prayers are requested for the people of Haiti, where an earthquake on January 12 destroyed many buildings and cost many lives. Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, is ill-equipped to handle such destruction. The PCUSA is still contacting its many partners in the country, and has set a $1,000,000 goal for assistance to Haiti. You can find updates on what they are doing to help at the same page on the website, www.pcusa.org/pda.
Your Church and Society Lay Ministry will respond with support from the Bradley Hills mission budget. Your additional gifts of assistance will be directed to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program which is organizing to respond to the shelter and health needs. Place your gift envelope or pew envelope into the offering plate, labeling it Haiti Disaster Assistance or write a check to BHPC with Haiti Disaster Assistance in the memo line.
Another way to respond: Hygiene/Care Kits
Peoples from, NOAH (The National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians, Inc.) hope to go to Haiti soon. They are sponsoring a collection of hygiene items. If you have items to donate, please bring them to the church. We will have a collection table set-up in the Education Hall upstairs. If the channels do not work to get the materials to Haiti directly, we will organize them and transport them the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Warehouse from which they ship worldwide.

We pray for Haiti
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As the eyes of the world turn to Haiti, let us join our hearts in prayer:
God of compassion
Please watch over the people of Haiti,
And weave out of these terrible happenings
wonders of goodness and grace.
Surround those who have been affected by tragedy
With a sense of your present love,
And hold them in faith.
Though they are lost in grief,
May they find you and be comforted;
Guide us as a church
To find ways of providing assistance
that heals wounds and provides hope
Help us to remember that when one of your children suffer
We all suffer
Through Jesus Christ who was dead, but lives
and rules this world with you. Amen.
