SIYAYA performs weekly at a local clinic that daily serves hundreds of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis patients. We give thanks to God for Kevin's mission of love. Click here to follow Kevin's service.

Introducing Church and Society Lay Ministry at
Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church

Contact Scott Winnette at 301-365-2850 x501 if you feel called to participate in a new way with our mission and service.

Church and Society Lay Ministry leads the congregation in worship of God through engagement in the local and world community. Mission at Bradley Hills is born out of the spiritual gifts of members, both individually and collectively. The particular programs are chosen according to the calling and existing passionate commitments of Bradley Hills’ members to “minds-on,” ”skills-on” as well as “hands-on” mission engagement in compassionate witness, social justice, and peacemaking.

We organize ourselves to be responsive to God’s calling.

The structure and programs of Church and Society were streamlined in 2006. From a single committee, that called all members of five subgroups together once a month, a Council was formed.

Church and Society Organiation

The C&S Council now coordinates the work of its component groups by:

  • Overseeing the calendar, budget, communications, peacemaking, special offerings, and mision education.
  • The Council is comprised of the Session liaisons and the chairs of the following groups:
    • Global Mission Team
    • Local/National Mission
    • Creation Stewardship
    • AIDS Benefit Concert and
    • Angel Gift Tree
  • The Council still creates at least two opportunities per year for all members of the component groups to meet together, usually a Mission Work Day in the spring and a Mission Stories Event in the fall.
  • The Council promotes and encourages engagement ofn the church in:
    • World Communion Sunday - led by Global
    • Earth Day - led by Creation Stewardship
    • Peacemaking programs - led by the Council
    • Mission trips such as PC(USA)'s Young Adult Volunteer Program, Habitat for Humanity, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) projects and a special mission intern program.
