Choirs at Bradley Hills
Mission
Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church has long had an outstanding tradition of liturgical music. The ministry of the music program at Bradley Hills is, first and foremost, the praise of God. Its mission is to bring others closer to God through the beauty of music, both in the liturgy and through concerts that we offer to the wider music community. Each week, from September to May, organ and choral music are provided during 10:30 a.m. worship. A wide array of music, normally offered by musicians in the parish, is occasionally a part of the 8:30 a.m. worship service in Covenant Hall. Several times a year, the Children's Choir and Bradley Ringers offer music as well during worship. All are invited to partake in any musical ensemble at Bradley Hills. Soli Deo Gloria!
The Choirs
The Chancel Choir of approximately twenty-five singers consists of dedicated volunteers that are supplemented by a professional quartet of section leaders. The Chancel Choir sings each Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship service from September to May, as well as for special services throughout the church year. Repertoire includes a wide variety of liturgical music, from English choral anthems and Renaissance polyphony (in Latin) to Gospel music and spirituals. All adults and high school students are welcome. Auditions are not required. Meets on Thursdays from 7:45-9:15 p.m. in the choir room. Click here for the current rehearsal schedule.
Listen to the Chancel Choir: "The Lord is my shepherd" by Rick Bassett (Resident Composer), recorded live during worship on October 18, 2009.
The Bradley Ringers are a handbell choir of approximately ten members. The choir uses a three-octave set of Schulmerich English handbells. No auditions are required, although an ability to read music is necessary. The Ringers routinely offer music during worship. Meets on consecutive Thursdays (prior to each performance in worship) from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Click here for the current rehearsal schedule.
The Cherub Choir is an informal musical group for any children who are interested (and especially for those who are not yet able to read). Children and parents or grandparents sing together as the children learn songs and hymns, which are offered during worship several times a year. Meets on Sundays from 11:45 a.m.-12:05 p.m., following 10:30 a.m. worship, in Covenant Hall.

The Children's Choir is a structured and disciplined choir comprised of children from reading age through middle school (or voice change for boys). This choir is organized around Voice for Life, a tiered music training program offered by the Royal School of Church Music in America. This program focuses on reading music, sight-singing, learning about effective use of the voice, as well as developing a sense of camaraderie, discipline, and commitment, while incorporating fun and games. The choristers will regularly share their musical gifts in worship. This program is an invaluable music education experience. Meets on Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m. (with a 5:45 p.m. dismissal on the 3rd Tuesday of each month) and on Sundays from 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the choir room. Click here for the current rehearsal schedule.
The Youth Choir is a musical group for those in high school, or middle school children who no longer are able or wish to be in the Children’s Choir. Meets several times a year as preparation to sing for special services.
