Our youth leadership this year is VIBRANT. It was great last year to have meals and we will ask that families help again by signing up on a rotation list. Our normal schedule will be 6 – 8pm on Sunday evenings. This year’s schedule will consist of Senior High Share Group and other activities for 9-12 graders on the 1st Sunday of each month. The 2nd and 3rd will include activities for all youth 6-12 grade. WELCOME SIXTH GRADERS!
The theme this year is one of faith and we will weekly explore words of faith, such as: faith, grace, predestination, salvation, sin, forgiveness.
I am very excited to share that on the 4th Sundays and maybe a few more, we will work with a cluster of Presbyterian Churches: St. Mark, Potomac, Chevy Chase, Immanuel, and Warner Memorial. This will be a great opportunity to meet some new friends.
Don’t forget the new Church School schedule! Sunday Church School 9:20am 10:20am. We will meet upstairs with a Middler class and a Senior High class. EVERY SUNDAY. Commit to coming.
Youth Connection May Schedule
MAY 4: 6:00 – 8:00pm – A Faith Word discussion and Planning for the Tribute to Karen Werner. We’ve got some good ideas, but SHHHH! It’s a secret, so you’ll have to come on May 4th to find out what’s afoot. We need creative minds and hands. Please come.
MAY 11: MOTHER’S DAY PANCAKE BREAKFAST - Calling all Dads and Youth – Help celebrate and honor the Moms (and Aunts, Grandmas, and other special women) in our lives by cooking and serving a pancake breakfast. We need volunteers: to shop, cook, serve, set up and clean up. Breakfast will be served from 8:30am – 10:15am. Proceeds will benefit the summer youth camps.
MAY 18: CONFIRMATION DAY AND CELEBRATE KAREN WERNER DAY - Immediately following the 10:30 worship, we’ll join the whole congregation for a celebratory brunch. There will be a special cake honoring the Confirmands. And we invite all the youth to come and participate when we give our surprise gift to Karen! Shhhh, remember, it’s a secret!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR OUR ANNUAL CAR WASH ON JUNE 1
This year’s mission trips will be:
June 29 – July 4 -- Mission Trip to a Group Work Camp in Manassas, VA. Youth from rising 6th through 12th graders are eligible. We will do home repair and share the love of Christ with people by performing much needed home repairs. Over six days, our young people will be transformed as our Christian faith is deepened. 20 slots are available. A deposit of $100 is needed with the registration form.
July 13 – 19 -- A Youth Trip to the Montreat Conference Center in North Carolina. This trip is for Senior High youth only. The Youth Conference is a unique gathering of young people from all over the country for a week of study, worship, and recreation. Activities include morning energizers, music, keynote, small group meetings where the conference theme is explored, afternoon recreation activities, and evening worship. 12 slots are available. A deposit of $100 is needed with the registration form.
