BHPC has many opportunities for you to help serve those in need. We seek to pair worship with mission and have developed a family-friendly program called Smart Sacks where after church each Sunday, you and your family can help put together food to feed those in need. Additionally, we are currently helping resettle our sixth refugee family. We support volunteer programs throughout the DMV, including:
Smart Sacks. Immediately following he 10:30AM Worship Service, all are welcome to help put together food donated by Manna Food, which will then be delivered to Montgomery County Public Schools, where distribution of the food to families in need occurs. Join us after worship right outside Memorial Hall – all ages welcome!
Interfaith Refugee Family Initiative: Many Afghan refugee families will be resettled in the coming weeks as they are moved from the military base where most have them have been since August, and we are seeking donations to help furnish their new housing. Click here to learn more about what is needed, or contact Brigitte Burgett (bkburgett@gmail.com) to learn more about this initiative.
Meals for Dorothy Day Place. Warm up the winter for the men living at Dorothy Day Place, a residential facility for single adults suffering homelessness in Montgomery County. This center, part of Catholic Charities, offers a range of services to enable the residents to find and retain employment, housing, and gives them tools to overcome mental barriers to successful living. Members of Bradley Hills provide dinners for the 16-18 men living there, the second Monday of each month. Meals can be delivered over the weekend for the assigned Monday. A wholesome meal is all that is needed; entrée, salad or vegetable, dessert/fruit, beverage.
