Preparing Our Hearts for Easter

One of the first elements in our Bradley Hills Sunday bulletin lists “Preparing Our Hearts for Worship.”  We list that because we know we need to be in the right frame of mind to experience the presence of God in our midst.

The same applies to the seasons of the church calendar.  Easter is coming.  On April 21 we will celebrate the Risen Lord in our midst.  Yet, as John’s Gospel tells us, we, like Mary, can miss the Risen Lord is we are not in the right frame of mind.

The season of Lent helps get us in the right frame of mind for Easter.

“Lent” comes from an Old English word, translated often as “lengten,” which simply means lengthen or spring, as the days lengthen and life rises and springs forth.

In these daily online devotionals, we hope you will go with us on this journey from Ash Wednesday to Easter.  To be reminded of our mortality and the brokenness in the world.  But also of God’s love, grace and hope, if we are open to their presence.

That is the Lenten work of preparing our hearts for Easter.

See you on our website and at church.   Blessings, David
