Kitchen Ministry

The Kitchen Ministry gathers each month to prepare meals for clients of Bethesda Cares and members of the Friends Club, an Alzheimer’s support group that meets at Bradley Hills. We do prep work the Monday before the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm (we then prepare the meals on second Tuesday morning of each month at 8:00 am). If neither of those times are convenient, consider baking a pan of brownies, a tray of cookies, or a cake that can be dropped off at church. There is also need for three people to serve the lunch at the Church in Bethesda on Wilson Lane, where our brothers and sisters gather to eat.
Tuesday
Kitchen Ministry |

The Kitchen Ministry gathers each month to prepare meals for clients of Bethesda Cares and members of the Friends Club, an Alzheimer’s support group that meets at Bradley Hills. If you would like to join this new local mission, we meet in the church kitchen the second Tuesday morning of each month at 8:00 am. For those who can’t take time off during the day, we do prep work the evening before (Monday at 7 pm). If those times aren’t convenient, consider baking a pan of brownies, a tray of cookies, or a cake that can be dropped off at church. There is also need for three people to serve the lunch at the Church in Bethesda on Wilson Lane, where our brothers and sisters gather to eat.
Lay Ministry Meetings
The BHPC Lay Ministries lead many important activities of our church and help members grow in faith. These working groups of the church meet monthly on the first Tuesday at 7:30pm. Participation in them is a good way to meet others and to develop community. Please consider if you would like to serve on a BHPC Lay Ministry for the next year. If you would like to be involved or recommend someone for service, email us.
S.O.M.E. (So Others Might Eat)

On the third Tuesday of every month, Bradley Hills provides a full breakfast — of pancakes, ham, fruit and drink — for between 350-500 people at S.O.M.E. in Washington DC. Team leaders purchase supplies and are reimbursed by BHPC. Teams of 4-6 are formed, making the commitment about four times a year. Volunteers have a good time preparing and cooking the meals together. Willingness to arrive at 6:30 AM is required (carpooling available), with work completed by 9:00 AM. Volunteers from other organizations are recruited to serve the meal. No dress code. Changing area for work clothes provided. Full instructions given once you sign up. For more information, email Bob Reutershan at soshikins@aol.com!
Wednesday
Bible Study

This group meets on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. This discussion group is led by one of the pastors and focuses on the biblical texts to be used in the upcoming worship services.
Alcoholics Anonymous
This group meets Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the Youth Lounge (Room 302/304). This is a closed meeting for AA members and those who suffer from their own alcoholism, for anyone in the broader community or church.
Open Nesters

For parents of nearly independent adults, this group meets the third Wednesday of each month.
Parenting this age group has its own special challenges and joys. We have both stories and truimphs to share and sometimes need the encouragement and good ideas of others. Click here for more information.
Men’s Spiritual Fellowship
The group typically meets in the lounge or at a local restaurant. The group meets monthly on the fourth Thursday of the month, from 7:00-8:15 pm, September through June.
Join David and a group of men for fellowship and discussion over a meal. Typically David teaches or leads a spiritual discussion, and sometimes members lead discussions on topics of their interest and expertise. Evenings include some prayer time, and discussions range from Bible studies and how to draw closer to God, to the federal fiscal crisis and US policy towards Pakistan. For more information or to let him know you plan to come, contact David Gray. If you need a ride, contact the church office at 301-365-2850 and the deacons will try to arrange it.
