Fall Call Clean Up
October 1, 2024
World Communion Sunday
October 4, 2024Bradley Hills will collect the Presbyterian Church USA’s (PCUSA) annual Peace and Global Witness special offering on World Communion Sunday, October 6.
This peacemaking offering is used to promote the peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice. Twenty-five percent of the funds collected are given to an organization specifically chosen by BHPC, 50% is directed to the PCUSA’s Presbyterian Mission Agency, and 25% is used by our National Capital Presbytery for ministries of peace, reconciliation, and justice.
This year, in light of the increasing tensions in the Middle East, our Mission lay ministry has designated New Story Leadership as the 2024 recipient of 25% of offering funds collected. New Story Leadership’s (NSL) goal is to develop a community of leaders and influencers across Palestine and Israel to build and realize a “new story” together.
Each year NSL selects and supports 10 emerging youth leaders (five Israeli and five Palestinian) to participate in NSL’s “DC Leadership Program.” These young leaders often speak in our building.
To support peacemaking at home and abroad, click on the “Give Now” button (top right corner) and select “Peace & Global Witness” in the dropdown menu.
If giving by check, please write “PGW” in the memo line, mail your check to the church or place it in the offering plate on October 6 or through the end of October.
As part of World Communion Sunday, there will be a special Day of Service after 10:30 worship to help commemorate this day. Join us in Memorial Hall at 11:30 a.m. to assemble disaster kits, prepare Smart Sacks for children in need, and participate in our annual coat drive.
