Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved at BHPC, to connect with others, and to use your God-given gifts to share in the spreading of spirituality, education, and joy. If you are interested in getting involved and don’t know where to start, start by reading the introductory paragraphs below for each ministry area or reach out to the church office for a deeper conversation on how you can serve in the church, in the community, and in the world.
Serving Others
We are an engaged church family that helps sustain the vibrant life of the Bradley Hills Church community. In a post-pandemic world, there is an enormous need for the continued mission and ministry of Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church. Families and Children
At Bradley Hills, our Children’s Ministry fosters an inclusive and nurturing space that supports every child’s journey to experience God. We cultivate a compassionate environment, enabling each child to build a foundation of faith through age-appropriate activities, interactive lessons, and meaningful discussions. By embracing diversity and encouraging curiosity, we strive to ensure that each child feels valued and that we empower the next generation to discover God’s love and grace in their lives.
Youth
Bradley Hills provides multiple opportunities for youth in middle school and high school to grow in their faith, build friendships, and connect to the wider church, community, and world. Our youth ministry programs are centered in developing a deep sense of belonging within the youth group as well as openness to a life of faith in each youth. Under the leadership of caring adult staff and volunteers, youth are empowered to explore their questions about faith and doubt, connect their faith to hands-on service projects, and deepen their friendships with one another.
Spiritual Groups
At BHPC our Spiritual Groups help each of us grow in our discipleship. We develop spiritual practices to help us grow in the image of Christ and look within ourselves to find a deeper connection with God. Spiritual Groups are usually led or prepared by our pastors.
Connectional Groups
We believe that community in fellowship is an important part of congregational connection. These Connectional Groups at BHPC give us a chance to meet new people, discuss ideas and current topics, and help us to grow and connect with others with similar backgrounds or interests.
Adult Education
BHPC’s Adult Education Ministry offers programs extending to all aspects of Christian faith development guided by the goals of exploring, supporting, and living our faith. Lively sessions provide a deep understanding of theology, Biblical text and context, the challenges of Christian discipleship in today’s world, and avenues for meaningful living. Adult Education programs are led by experts and/or advocates, including Bradley Hills members who welcome questioning and discussion. Adult Education is held every Sunday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the library, as well as on Zoom, during the program year. Childcare provided.
Mission
Through mission, Bradley Hills heeds the Gospel’s call to send our treasure and our hands-on service into our community and the wider world. By engaging in mutual ministry with local, national, and global mission partners, we experience God and the Holy Spirit at work in the world. Bradley Hills’ mission priorities include:
Hands-On Support includes service projects that provide food, winter coats, school supplies, and Christmas gifts for children in low-income families, and emergency kits for communities struck by natural disasters. These initiatives range from family-friendly and youth projects to physically intensive mission projects.
Financial Support for pathways out of poverty, health care, racial justice, education of women in Asia, and denominational mission and church development initiatives.
Supportive Engagement is a dedication of time and talent to support mission through new ideas, decision making, communications, organization of planned events, and serving on the Mission Council—without those who are dedicated to mission through supportive engagement, there would not be a mission program.
Racial Justice
Bradley Hills strongly believes that racism has no place in God’s world. We believe that all of humanity is created in the image of God and that each person is of holy and equal worth. Because every human is fully loved by God, Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves. To deny the dignity of any person is a sin. God has told us what is good—to do justice, to love kindness and mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. In March of 2021, Session passed a motion to create the Racial Justice Visioning Task Force with the charge, “To develop, in conversation with the congregation and the Holy Spirit…a set of goals and recommended next steps for BHPC to take to use its unique voice as a faith community to promote racial justice in our church, our community, the nation, and the world.”
Music & Choirs
Making music to the glory of God is a central part of our faith, a core part of Bradley Hills’ identity, and has been practiced by Christians in times both good and bad through the millennia. The Music Ministry pursues beauty in all of its forms with the goal of glorifying God and building community. We invite you to participate in any way that feels right to you, whether singing from the pews, joining one of our choirs for children youth, and adults, or offering your instrumental musical gifts during worship.
Earth Care & Property Management
Our mission is to provide resources and oversee projects to maintain and improve the church facilities and grounds, negotiate agreements with building users, and support the staff that maintain the church facilities for all building users. Through our Property Management Lay Ministry (PMLM), we prioritize and align our efforts to the congregation’s mission, responsible building stewardship, financial prudence, and Earth Care.
