Venus Masselam, PhD has been a mental health professional for over 60 years. She began her career working with female adolescents in a reform school in MA. She then married and moved to PA and had 2 sons and then moved to MD . Here, she divorced her first husband. She returned to work as a family therapist for a drug program in VA. She then moved from counselor to Program Director for a private high school for troubled adolescents in VA. She has worked with all the life stages except infancy – all while she worked full time raising her 2 sons as a single mother and earning her PHD. Venus is retiring this year and devoting her energies and skills to BHPC, which has become her emotional and spiritual home since becoming a widow following the unexpected death of her brilliant scientist 2nd husband Albert J Fleig Jr. PhD. of 35 years who worked at NASA for over 60 years. He died unexpectedly in 2023.
