August 16, 2024Lenten Small Group Leaders
Help is needed as we explore the work of A Different Kind of Fast. As we seek to draw closer to God during Lent, Lenten small group leaders will help their group explore how to create “retreat spaces” in our everyday lives. In these small group, we will fellowship, share our experiences, and learn/revisit practical contemplative practices.
This promises to be a rewarding Lenten experience.

Interfaith Refugee Family Support Initiative
Since 2017, the Interfaith Refugee Family Support Initiative with a team of 80+ dedicated volunteers from BHPC, BJC, the MIIC, Idara, and ICCP has helped refugee families and individuals make their homes in Montgomery County. We have provided long-term financial, mentoring, tutoring, and other supports to four families and several individuals.
In 2021 and 2022, we furnished nine apartments for other refugee families with donated or purchased household items after Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. Several of us now partner with Homes not Borders (HNB) (www.homesnotborders.org) to continue to provide a first furnished home for newly arrived refugees from many countries. We need your help to both set up apartments and provide supplies. To find out how you can help, go to www.bradleyhillschurch.org/refugee-support.
Meals for Lon’s House and Becky’s House
For many years Bradley Hills has fed the hungry through a ministry with shelters for those who would otherwise be homeless. We have partnered with Interfaith Works to provide dinner once a month to Becky’s House, a shelter for eight women and Lon’s House, a home for eight men both located in Rockville.
We are pleased to have the opportunity to broaden this ministry by giving those who deliver the dinner the option to stay, serve and dine with the residents. This is an option and not required. We are hoping to create a sense of community with those we are providing food for.
